Darrell Steinberg, Founder & Principal
Darrell Steinberg is recognized as one of the nation’s most trusted leaders in public policy and labor dispute mediation. With over more than three decades in state and local leadership including serving as California State Senate President Pro Tempore and Mayor of Sacramento he has built a legacy of guiding the most complex, high-stakes challenges to resolution.
Known for his steady judgment and ability to bring opposing sides together in unity, Darrell has resolved high-profile disputes which others considered beyond repair. He works with public and private sector organizations at the local, state, and national levels, involved in high level disputes. He works to help parties find the illusive middle ground.

Mediated an agreement between Kaiser Permanente and the National Union of Healthcare Workers that ended a high-stakes, six-month Southern California mental health strike 2025.
Successfully negotiated a complex soccer stadium and development agreement in Sacramento that will revitalize the local economy and increase citywide partnerships.
Mediated six week strike between UC graduate students and university system, ensuring fair labor conditions, and enabling undergraduate education for thousands of students to continue.
Led mediation to resolve competing interests between universities, government entities, and private investors in the Aggie Square development project driving economic growth throughout the Sacramento region.
Authored major initiative reform (SB1253) that allows state initiative proponents to negotiate a compromise prior to going to the statewide ballot.
Helped negotiate a bipartisan agreement that began closing a 42 billion dollar deficit preventing state financial collapse and ultimately restoring fiscal stability. With other legislative leaders awarded the 2010 John F Kennedy profiles and courage award for bipartisan action.
